My husband and oldest son left yesterday for the Dominican Republic. It is my son's first mission's trip. I am so excited that he has this opportunity. They are joining 28 other people from our church and spending one week serving with World Servants in a village called La Represa. They will be doing a work project for a local church and running a VBS.
My son, soon to be 11, is taking spanish in school. He is excited about practicing while in the D.R. Dan speaks enough spanish to get by :) They left yesterday at 3 a.m. My son was wide awake and so excited when they left. It was neat to see his enthusiam about serving others. He loves to read and I sent along an old college textbook called From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya by Ruth A. Tucker. It is full of missionary stories that inspire. He promised me he would read it on the trip.
Look for some updates in the weeks to come!
Oh-so excited for both of them, and that they're doing this together!
