Simplify Your Online Reading!

I was blog hopping the other day and saw a post titled Simplify Your Online Reading!  I am not very tech savvy/Internet literate so this post intrigued me.  Oh my, have I been missing out? YES!  I had no idea Google Reader even existed, even though I have a Google account and it's been right in front of my face for years.  The post above was VERY informative.  After watching it I jumped over to Google, found Reader and it took me 10 minutes to set everything up.  All the blogs I love to read are listed and the posts show up daily.  It is a HUGE time saver and now I feel like I am not missing out.

Blogs have really met a need in my life.  I feel SO supported as a follower of Jesus, mom, wife, etc. through the words of wisdom that God gives to so many.  It is also a great way to keep up with friends and learn great tips (like how to simplify your online reading) that help me in my daily life.  Blogging rocks!

Just so you know, about 3-1/2 years ago I really got into blogging/reading blogs and social media.  I realized that it could take a HUGE amount of my time SO I gave up TV.  I decided that if I spent a couple hours a day in front of a screen, I would rather be on FB, Twitter or Blogs.  I'm not super strict, I sometimes watch TV.  We record and watch the Duggars.  We also have occasional movie nights and I do like Penguins of Madagascar and Phineas and Ferb (after all, I LOVE summer vacation!)  Sometimes I plop down and watch an episode with my boys.  Overall, I would say my TV viewing is less than 4 hours a week. I try and limit myself to 90 minutes a day online, some of that is on my iPhone.  That limit made it very difficult to keep up with the 30+ blogs I like to read (and FB and Twitter).  SO I am very excited about Google Reader.  I really want the encouragement/entertainment that these blogs provide.  Yippee for Google Reader!

  1. I love google reader too! I use it and my favorites in twitter to save stuff to read for later. Sometimes instead of a book I do some blog reading in my reader. It's kind of a like a big magazine. :)

    Take care!
