Little House in the Big Woods

When I said a log cabin nestled in the Northwoods of Minnesota, I wasn't kidding :-)  Here's my favorite pictures from our weekend.

Our traditional family picture that we have taken every year since 2002.  It is SO fun to look back and see how much our children have grown.  I'll do another blog post sometime with all of the pictures in order.  The sign behind us has our last name but I blocked it out for privacy sake.  AND one more thing, my boys do not like posing for this and I generally say, "If the picture doesn't turn out, no smores!" You know they are going to LOVE these pictures someday or at least their wives will :-)

Built in the 1930's by my husband's great-grandfather.

Apples to Apples is our new favorite game.

I think I mentioned it was a boy's paradise.  This is an old gravel pit where they set off lots of fireworks.

There is a story behind this picture and I am terrified to share it but I might someday :-)

We are getting close to perfecting campfire tin foil meals.  This meal was cheesy potatoes, cooked carrots and chicken.

It is almost ready for cooking.

The finished product!  The chicken ended up a little dry (I think I over-cooked it) but the potatoes were AWESOME!

My oldest son who just turned 12.

My baby who is 6 and wants to be SO big like his bros.

My hubby saw this huge tree over the water and got close enough for the boys to climb on and we got this great picture.  I just LOVE it!

That is my middle son who is 10-3/4.  I love this picture because my little guy took it.  My head got cut off and my hubby looks goofy but if he was smiling and you could see my head, it would be a great picture.

A reflection in the water.

This is a real log cabin.  It reminds me of Little House in the Big Woods and I often think of Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary and Baby Carrie nestled in for the winter.  Hard life!

Yes, we have an outhouse.  Also, there is no running water, electricity or cell phone signal.
