Nestled in the Northwoods of Minnesota sits a little log cabin. It was built almost 80 years ago by my husband's great-grandfather. Every summer we take a few trips "up north", a term you will hear frequently in Minnesota, to enjoy the beauty of God's creation. For the past few years, we have spent the July 4th week at the cabin and have been joined by various members of our family. This year my parents, sister, brother-in-law and nieces came. My husband's brother owns another cabin on the same lake. We really enjoyed all the family! It was a week filled with swimming, smores, bug bites, reading, fishing and cooking over the campfire. There is no electricty or a cell phone signal. It is a great escape from everyday life! Here are a few of my favorite pictures AND we found a great new trick to making smores!
My middle son LOVES to fish! He wanted you to know he caught an amazing, 13 inch small mouth bass.
My precious husband, I love him SO much!
We had a warm spring this year which makes for nice water temperatures. It was a hot week, so we really enjoyed the lake!
"The heavens declare the glory of God..." Psalm 19:1
We bought that hammock the first year we were married (almost 15 years ago!). I remember being so upset about spending $100 but you pay for quality and the hammock has lasted.
The local town has a great firework display.
On you mark, get set, GO!
They were very creative with the fireworks we bought.
My sister read a great idea online. Instead of graham crackers and chocolate, we used fudge stripped cookies. Oh my, they made delicious smores and the chocolate actually melted! It is our new favorite.

Awesome Pictures. It is a great feeling when you get out of the car and take a deep breath. The air is just so different up there.
ReplyDeleteSo fun. What a special place for you all to share in together. I especially loved the photo of your mom. Warms my heart to see her there with you all. Love to you.
