Lately it has been hitting me what a BIG responsibility I have taken on in the past few months. Initially, I was a sponsorship coordinator for a US based non-profit and I wasn't in charge. I don't like being in charge so I was OK with that. However, God had different plans and since Nov. 1st I have taken lead of a group of sponsors/supports and we are striving to support a small ministry in rural Ethiopia (FOVC). It's exciting and yet scary at the same time. God knows me and He brought me along this path slowly. I have a ton to learn and I am up for the challenge! I am thankful for Children's Hope Chest who is umbrella organization connecting us (my sponsors and I) to FOVC in Ethiopia. Here's a quick update:
I have 78 children sponsored and 72 to go!! Click here to see the precious Shanto children.
We have raised $1815 of the $3000 needed for the school uniforms. Fundraising scares me so I am thrilled that in less than 3 weeks we are at 60% of the goal. Click here to read more about this capital project and to donate, hint, hint!
I am super excited to be leading a small team to Ethiopia next March. Again, thankful for Children's Hope Chest whose Ethiopian staff will help faciliate the trip. I cannot wait to get back to Shanto and hug those precious orphaned and vulnerable children. Right now we have 6 team members and 3 more people praying about going. I have prayed for months that the right team would come together. I am SO excited! Also, one of my precious neighbor kids is coming along. He's 17 and I have known him since he was 3. He has such a servant's heart and I am excited to take him to Ethiopia. And my big brother and his wife are coming which is super neat!
I am also thankful for some amazing sponsors and supporters. I am definitely not in this alone. God is good. I am working at putting together a leadership team for Shanto. Praying for the right people who are committed to prayer and fulfilling James 1:27.
