It's working!!!!!

One week ago I shared about my crazy new plan to keep us on track with our finances.  I am happy to report that it's working!!!

After a couple days of doing this my boys walked into the kitchen, saw me sorting monopoly money and said, "Mom (long pause), what are you doing?"

I fully believe that using cash and an envelope system is the best way to not overspend.  However, we LOVE our credit cards, which give us cash back and frequent flier miles.  Seriously, I have over 150,000 frequent flier miles, now to use them :-)  Anyway, I decided to use monopoly money and every night I pull out what has been charged that day.  I love the "hands-on" approach yet still being able to have the convenience and benefit of the credit cards.  Excel spreadsheets and Quicken stress me out but monopoly money is fun!  I guess I'm a big kid at heart.

This past week I stayed right on budget which feels great!  I firmly believe that every penny I have in my bank account belongs to God and I need to be a VERY good steward of what He has chosen to give me.
