OK, this is hilarious! I came across a blog called Cinderella Duty: Lowering the bar for mothers, one post at a time. This stay-at-home mom is being real! I love to blog hop and have a few blogs I read on a consistent basis. I've seen cleaning tips, household schedules, challenges to be good homemakers and it is all good! I immensly appreciate the heart behind the posts, the ideas and the challenge. After all, being a homemaker IS my job. I want to make a nice home for my family and enjoy raising my boys but the truth is, it is hard! I've struggled with looking at blog post after blog post and feeling like I am doing something wrong, after all, my house is often a mess! My former pastor's wife once told me that,
"Cleaning your house while your chilren are growing,
is like shoveling snow while it's still snowing."
I LOVE a clean house. As a matter of fact, I have a housecleaning job that I do for a little extra money. I clean for my friend once a month and I leave her home spotless! I love cleaning her house because when I leave it is clean and I do not have to watch it get dirty. As good as I am, I struggle to keep my own house clean. I get my children involved as much as possible (and the older they get the more productive it is) but it still is generally a mess. I think part of the issue is the space. We have 1350 sq. ft. If something gets piled up, you see it! Ms. Cinderella Duty, Becky, has 1300 sq. ft., so we have something in common. I know the challenges behind keeping a small house clean.
I appreciate Becky for being real and making it so darn funny! So head on over to MOM EXHIBIT: NOW OPEN this month and laugh with me!

I read her post! it's great! and I agree it's so hard to keep the house clean with kids. I'm a neat freak and sometimes get annoyed cleaning up after the kids ALL the time but I've learned to let some of it go and not try to nag them so much but let them play & be kids. It's hard for me though.

I can't tell you how cool it is to stumble upon a post about something I published! I love the quote about shoveling snow and cleaning. It's a perfect way to sum up how I, and many other moms, feel about our never-ending messes. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteBecky, I totally understand. I strive to do my best around the house but sometimes I just need to laugh. Thanks for the comic relief.
