Maintain the Mess, part 2

I wrote a light-hearted post that I link to Cinderelle Duty: Mom Exhibit.  I appreciate the comic relief!  Here is the rest of that post, not so light-hearted BUT so important to me.

I am SO thankful for my messy house because it means I have active and healthy children. I LOVE my messy kitchen because it means I can feed my family. I am privileged to have mountains of laundry because it means we have an adundance of clothing.

Last January, I traveled to Ethiopia (I know, Ethiopia again! What can I say, that trip changed me FOREVER!). I saw a one roomed hut for a widow and her 3 children. I witnessed distended bellies because of malnutrution. I was overwhelmed with the rags clothing I saw on children and the reality that it was the only piece of clothing they owned.

In my struggle to make a difference, I accepted a position as a sponsorship coordinator for a small outreach in southern Ethiopia. I have 26 children who still needs sponsors, many are malnourished. $35 a month can change little Tarikua forever. Now you see my need for comic relief. Friends, this weighs so heavy on my heart.

  1. I truly admire you for doing more than just being concerned! You see a need and are actually brave enough to do something about it. You inspire me. You are the definition of a disciple of Christ. So glad to have you as a friend!
