Smelly Bathrooms

Yesterday, I wrote about why I think I can't be a blogger and the reasons why I need to be. I came up with a great plan because if you're gonna blog you need a plan, right?! Today is “Toss-up Tuesday”, any topic goes, so today's topic is smelly bathrooms.

I have 3 boys (and a husband). I also have an older brother but since he's 14 years older than me, I really didn't experience much daily life with him. Therefore, I was very surprised to learn, on my honeymoon, that men don't always aim well. I remember being appalled.

Over the years, I’ve struggled with beating myself up a bit over my parenting. I tend to be a perfectionist and even though I don't expect perfection, a.k.a. I'm realistic, I still long for perfection. I have thought at times that maybe I failed in the bathroom area, after all I am still reminding them to wash their hands. My oldest is good at it but the other two, oh my!

Both of our bathrooms tend to smell like pee, in particular, the downstairs bathroom. No matter how much I scrub, how much bleach I use, it still smells.  I've realized that urine has gotten under the flooring and onto the sub floor. It's on our to-do list..

REPLACE THE SUB FLOOR!

The other day I stopped at a coffee shop.  The sign on the women’s bathroom door said,

“Out of order, use the men’s restroom.”

So I did and I discovered something amazing…

I am not a bad mom.

Yep, you guessed it, that coffee shop men’s restroom smelled just like pee.  There was no urinal, therefore, the whole toilet area was wet and stinky.  I’ve decided it just must be a guy thing.  No matter how great I parent these boys, until they leave our home someday, my bathrooms might always smell.

Thankful for that out of order bathroom to boost my confidence as a mom :-))
