Yikes! I just realized that I haven't blogged anything for 2 weeks. Not good! However, my reason is good (I am kind of rambling here). I really felt like my family needed me and I've been focusing ALOT on them. Plus, I've been finishing up my report to all the sponsors (pictures below).
I really got on here to write an update. I am raising money for shoes for the kiddos in Ethiopia. $6,000 will help provide 2 pairs of shoes in the next year for all 150 children. Many kids were barefoot when I visited in March, it was sad. As of today, I'm at 23% of my goal. I've raised $1,370. $20 helps provide a pair of shoes (which will be purchased IN Ethiopia). Please, pretty please consider donating a pair today! Yes, $20 is realistic, I know because we shopped for shoes in Ethiopia. My brother and sister-in-law spent $24USD on a pair of children's shoes and 2 pairs of socks. You can follow THIS LINK to read more about that project.
As of today, 106 children are sponsored and 44 still need a monthly sponsor. It is $34 a month and just look at what you get!!

It was neat to put together these packages for each sponsor.
I added 3 mini-fliers to the letter I sent. I decided to use Ethiopian colors :-)
Each sponsor received a letter from me updating them on my trip in March, that I was VERY pleased with how I saw our funding being used. They also received a picture frame that their child made. I attached a picture and put magnets on the back so they could hang it on their frig. I also added 1-2 other pictures of their child. I plan to do this every time I travel to Ethiopia (plus, I have something else the children made but I am saving it for later, shhhh...don't tell my sponsors, I plan to do another mailing next winter).
This is such an AMAZING sponsorship program with a personal touch. Please e-mail me at reachinghiskids@gmail.com if you have questions or you can visit our community page directly to sign up to sponsor a child. Follow THIS LINK, on "Status" click the arrow and selected "UNSPONSORED" to see the waiting children. Once you sponsor a child, I will send you a package!!
We loved our photo and frame and it is hanging on our refrigerator. Thank you so much! She is just precious.
