In the past year I have SO clearly seen God's hand moving amongst those around me. Last May, I was faced with a difficult decision. The US based non-profit that I was volunteering for decided to shut down. It was messy and I had to decide if I should walk away or stick it out on behalf of some precious little children in Ethiopia. I decided to stand firm and pray. Oh did I pray! And HE was faithful to answer my prayers. The answer came through Children's HopeChest. Someone forwarded them an e-mail inquiry I had sent out. Children's HopeChest contacted ME, I had never heard of them. They stepped in and took over the sponsorship program and I got to continue coordinating it! Go God!!
Last weekend I flew out to Colorado to attend Children's HopeChest Africa Partner's Conference. It was a wonderful weekend connecting with HopeChest's amazing staff and meeting people from all around the country who are doing the exact same thing as me, advocating for the fatherless. I felt so encouraged and inspired!
Lunch on Friday was AWESOME! We ate rice and beans while sitting on the floor and we used our fingers. It gave us a feel for what many children around the world eat everyday for lunch.
150,000,000 children worldwide have lost one or both parents. The Bible clearly tells me that I need to defend and care for the fatherless. I can't help them all but I can help 150 in Shanto, Ethiopia. 93 children have sponsors, praise God! 57 still need a sponsor. The unsponsored children are attending school but without a paying sponsor these precious children are unable to participate in the feeding program, there just isn't enough funds to provide food for all 150 children. However, $34 a month will help support their education, add them to the feeding program, provide basic medical care and Christian discipleship. I'll be heading over to Ethiopia on March 16th to visit these precious children. If you sponsor one TODAY, there is still time to send them a gift and letter that I will hand deliver!
